Как я уже писала, шутки помогают изучать язык! Во-первых, это разговорная речь и ежедневно используемая лексика, так что большинство слов понятно и ясно - где уже смеяться :) Ещё они короткие и ёмкие по смыслу. При этом не пропадает желание подсмотреть пару непонятностей. Конечно, бывает так, что слова понимаешь, а что хотели сказать - ...? Как и везде, в Англии любят шутки по поводу, так сказать, гендерной принадлежности. Вот советы на 2010 для леди (ледей?) в нашей местной газете.

Книга английского антрополога Кейт Фокс. «Наблюдая за англичанами.Скрытые правила поведения.» - чудесный учебник для понимания англичан. Не американцев и не валлийцев-ирландцев-шотландцев. Именно - англичан, английского юмора, английских очередей, английских футбольных хулиганов и английской классовости.
Небольшой отрывок из книги, о семи "смертных грехах" - словах, по которым вас причислят к ... низам социальной лестницы :
"Мама говорит, слово "pardon" ещё хуже, чем "fuck" (из разговора) ... По мнению представителей высшего класса и верхушки среднего класса, это явно простонародное словечко хуже бранного выражения. Некоторые даже называют пригороды, в которых обитают представители низов среднего класса, Пардонией. Есть хороший тест на определение классовой принадлежности: беседуя с англичанином, умышленно скажите что-нибудь очень тихо, так что бы вас не расслышали. Там ещё целый список подобных подводных камней. К слову об этом примере английской классовости, у них есть и правило непризнания классовости. Разобраться в этом сложно, но знать - абсолютно не помешает. Хотя бы для того, что бы понимать - чего ожидать от англичан в ответ на наши, тщательно вызубренные, школьные знания :)

Классика, которая никогда не стареет. Вмест с Фрэнком Синатрой эту песню пел Bono (U2), перепела Мадонна. Почему бы и нам не выучить? Тем более, что здесь "куча полезностей": и настоящее совершённое время, и применение "me" и "myself", и ещё много чего простого(!) и полезного, что вы учили. Кроме того, песня часто звучит в фильмах, её любят петь хором (да-да, они поют, это мы забыли застольные...) приятно же просто "подтянуть" вместе со всеми, при случае)))
